Ultimate Heavy Duty Plated English LSD with Atlas Internals – 18 Spline (PLF130-18)

Over the past five decades, the power capacity of the English Axle has seen significant advancements. Originally equipped with OEM 22 spline half shafts limited to a maximum power of 150hp, the introduction of 18 spline larger diameter ‘4340’ half shafts has boosted this capacity to 300hp in a semi-floating configuration. Overcoming the subsequent power limitation posed by the Crown Wheel and Pinions (CWP), our latest high-quality lapped sets now support up to 300hp with the correct setup (available here).

The former weak point of the old Salisbury style LSDs has been addressed with the innovative Blackline type Atlas design, matching the power capacity of the Atlas LSD up to 300hp. With the completion of the upgraded powertrain, the English Axle offers customizable break away torque, with a default setting of 60ft lbs suitable for rallying. Optional plate sets of 37ft lbs (ideal for oval racing and road use) or 80ft lbs (for racing) are available at additional cost.

Suitable for vehicles with uprated 18 spline shafts, including Ford English Axle, Escort MK1, Escort MK2, Cortina MK1, Cortina MK2, Anglia 105E, Prefect 107E, and Kit Cars. Not compatible with Atlas axle, Capri, or Cortina MK 3/4/5. Please note that it is only compatible with uprated 18 spline shafts and will not function with standard 22 spline shafts.

Ideal for race and rally applications. Supplied with 18 tooth spline to mate to Retroford Heavy Duty 18 Spline Half Shaft Kits (available here).

Please note that due to the larger diameter of the shaft, 18 tooth LSD’s must be used with oversized 38mm ID side bearings instead of standard 35mm ID OEM side bearings (oversize 38mm ID side bearings available separately above).
